Hair and makeup try-on that keeps your face

Tressaly is an iPhone app that tries hair, brows and makeup on one selfie and leaves everything else as it was: your bone structure, your skin and the framing of your photo. Each look is checked on your iPhone against the original, and a look whose face has drifted is not shown.

There is no slimming, no smoothing, no ageing and no filter in the app, and no score or rating of your face. If you want to judge a new length or a warmer colour, the rest of the picture has to stay still.

How does Tressaly check that your face did not change?

When a look comes back, your iPhone finds the facial landmarks in your original photo and in the look, using Apple's Vision framework, and measures how far they moved. If they moved beyond a small tolerance, Tressaly asks for that look once more. If the second try also fails, the look is dropped and you are told, rather than shown a face that is not yours.

The check runs on the iPhone, so the landmarks never leave it. It measures geometry, not identity: it catches a face that has been redrawn, which is what it is there for. You can then compare each look against your photo yourself with a before and after slider. Every image is labelled as an AI preview.

What do you get from one selfie?

  1. Take one selfieFace a window, hair down, no filter. The read takes one to two minutes.
  2. Get your readSix areas: hair shape, hair colour, brows, eyes, cheeks and lips. Each is a specific change or leave as is, with the reason it suits the face in your photo.
  3. See it on youEveryday, Evening and Work looks drawn on your own photo. What changes between the three.
  4. Get the piecesThe products behind each look, in your shade, linked to their listings on AliExpress. Tressaly may earn a commission.

Is Tressaly a hairstyle catalogue?

No. Tressaly does not offer a gallery of cuts to scroll through. It suggests the changes that suit the face in your photo, citing what it saw, such as where your part and hairline sit or how your forehead and cheekbones relate, and shows them as finished looks. It does not give you a face-shape label. If you want to browse many styles, a catalogue app suits that better; if you want to know which change to make and see it on your own face, that is what Tressaly is for.

How can you check any try-on keeps your face?

Line up pupils, nostrils and lip corners with a slider, zoom into a cheek, and look at the wall behind you. If any of them changed, the image was redrawn or graded, not just restyled. Six checks for an honest try-on, and what a still preview can and cannot tell you.

Questions

Will Tressaly make my face slimmer or my skin smoother?

No. Tressaly has no face, body or skin editing. It changes hair, brows and makeup only, and it never alters bone structure, nose, jaw or eye size, never applies a filter and never scores or rates a face.

What happens if a look comes out with a different face?

Each look is checked on your iPhone against your original photo. If your facial landmarks have moved, Tressaly asks for the look once more. If the second try also fails, the look is not shown.

Can I pick any hairstyle from a catalogue?

No. Tressaly is not a style catalogue. It reads your selfie, suggests a specific change or leave as is for hair shape, hair colour, brows, eyes, cheeks and lips, and draws those suggestions as Everyday, Evening and Work looks.

Is it free?
